This week’s Interview with an Author is with Gabbie S Duran. We sure hope you are enjoying the weekly post as we get to know some of our favorites.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a stay at home mom/author. I currently reside in Western Texas with my husband and four kids, two of them being fur babies. My life can be a little chaotic at times, but I’m great at multi-tasking and I love every minute of it.
Tell us about your latest project.
My most current project is titled Unspoken Temptation and is due to release May 11th. So far it’s been my most favorite story to write because it contains love, humor, and a happier ever after, which what I always aim to end with.
What is your favorite book and why?
My most favorite book would have to be Dr. Seuss “The Places You Will Go.” It encourages you to reach for your dreams and keep pushing forward, regardless of the obstacles you will face.
What do you like to do when you need a break from writing?
Read, of course. If I’m not reading I take advantage of every moment I can to spend with my family.
Where do you usually write? Do you write in silence or with music or other background sounds?
At my desk in my master bedroom. There you will find me with my earphones on and singing along to the music blaring into my ears. It’s my happy zone.
Who is your inspiration? What inspired you to become a writer?
I’ve always had an active imagination from childhood. Stories and ideas would always fill my head. One day I decided to write those stories down. Years later, upon discovering Indie Writing I decided to take a chance and professionally write a book. It’s a risk I will never regret.
My inspiration is not just one person but the entire Indie Community. Seeing the hard work and dedication needed to go into publishing a book drives me to keep pushing for better. I want to be the best author I can be for my readers.
What is your least favorite part of being an author?
Not having enough time to write. Life still continues even though I’d love nothing more than to sit with my laptop and create the world I’m imagining.
What is your favorite part of being an author?
The gratitude of knowing someone took a chance in me and read my book, or the messages telling me how much they loved the story. It’s my most favorite part of being an author.
What is your favorite motivational phrase, and why?
“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” Forrest Gump. Because in all reality, life really is like a mysterious box of chocolates.
Do you have a writing space? Tell us what it’s like.
My writing space located in the corner of my master bedroom with my large wooden desk. On top of it there is wine bottles with labels of every single one of my book covers and inspirational quotes hanging on my wall to its side. Every piece of swag representing my books or me is enclosed in a shadow box right where I can see it. It reminds me of what I have accomplished. I do love my little corner.
