Who says our Hump Day Magic has to be for the boys? Not here, as this week’s spotlight goes out to Chandra Holt – ALL-DONE FITNESS sponsored athlete, world traveler, and model.
What has been your favorite shoot / campaign / work to date? I really enjoyed working with Honor the Sacrifice to help raise funds for veterans in financial need. I truly believe it is a great cause and I’m grateful I was able to be a part of the fundraising!
How would you describe your personal style, where do you pull your inspiration from? When I work onstage or in front of cameras and crowds, I want to inspire people. It doesn’t have to be with fitness, but with an attitude of happiness and gratitude. I want to embody a happy, strong, and thankful individual (that also doesn’t take life too seriously) and I try to make that come through in my images, videos, and posts.
Do you have any hidden talents? Throughout my life I’ve been interested in language so I’ve studied Spanish, Chinese, Russian, French, and German. I majored in Linguistics and I’ve traveled a lot to delve more deeply into foreign languages. I would only say that I’m fluent only in Spanish but I have conversational proficiency in the others and I’m working to improve my languages every day.
Do you get to travel a lot for your work? If so what’s your favorite city that you have visited? I have had the blessing of being able to travel for fitness modeling to Los Angeles and I had a great time there with my sponsor, All Done Fitness. They opened a gym there and I was honored to be a part of the opening ceremony along with video and photo shoots.
Do you ever get shy in front of the camera? It’s harder for me to shoot with video format than photo. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a video over and over before posting it, convincing myself that I look or sound silly. But that’s the thing with video, it’s much more personal and people can get a 360 view of your personality. Normal cameras get me excited and video cameras have me hiding my face!
Favorite movie? How to Train your Dragon! I’m a sucker for great animations.
Five things you can’t live without? 1. Water! I drink a gallon a day. 2. THE GYM! 3. The people I love and especially those who support me in my endeavors. 4. Chapstick – I am a serious addict. Ask anyone who knows me; I’m constantly putting it on. 5. Snowboarding. I actually think I’m going to perish if I don’t go soon – This is on account of missing last season because I traveled to Thailand and Australia.
Give us five facts about you people may not know. 1. I grew up on a small farm near Black Diamond, WA. 2. Only because everyone asks, I’m half Chinese. 3. I’ve been to fifteen countries and eight states (so far). 4. My favorite music genres are reggae and heavy metal. 5. I grew up without cable TV so I actually prefer reading – I’m finishing up Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series right now!
What’s the best and worst thing about being a model? The worst thing about being a model is: having to deal with criticism and harassment. It might be surprising to know how many times I’ve seen extremely negative feedback about anything so shallow as my arms. I receive anything from lewd to downright rude messages. On the flip side, I love working to empower and inspire people. When people tell me I am part of their motivation to do something intimidating, I couldn’t feel more honored. A lot of times it’s through fitness, sometimes it’s through travel, or merely a way of thinking. I’m a firm believer that everyone can be happy and accomplish anything they want – and that’s what I want to convey through my work at the end of the day.
What’s your biggest accomplishment? It’s funny… I actually hate this question because at this point I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished much yet – only because I have so many goals for the future. I suppose what I’m most happy about is how I’ve managed to shift my priorities through my lifestyle change. From college party / club girl to fitness fanatic who is more focused on world travel and investing in the future, I think that has been my biggest accomplishment to date and it’s something I continue to work on in life.
