As this week begins I’m preparing for my first author event, and let’s talk about the nerves, excitement, and planning. Months ago I was invited to the Yo Philly Author Event, and was beyond excited. Now… The butterflies have kicked in, the list are a mile long, reservations have been made and confirmed. Just as I’m sitting her typing up my blog post for you, I’ve thought of at least five more items that I need to double-check that I’ve written down.
I know once Saturday, May 16th rolls around all will be well, just as it should be. But if you didn’t know this, my OCD kicks into hyper drive anytime I plan a trip. It doesn’t matter what kind of trip. Lord help my family when vacation rolls around because it’s even worse when I pack for three people.
The best thing about it all is that I get to meet my fans, bloggers, make some new friends, and finally put a face with all the amazing authors that I have become close to over the last year.
In the back of my mind I have mentally prepared myself that no one will stop by my table, no one is going to know who I am; and that’s okay if it happens. Why, because I will be surrounded by some pretty amazing people, and when I come home it’s going to be another mark off my list of things to accomplish.
Everyone has that list of things known as the Bucket list and we all know that publishing a book was one of mine. Needless to say I never thought book seven would be waiting for the editor to review and getting ready to publish. So with all that, no matter how this weekend goes I know I did something amazing. I’ll continue to write the stories that you all love, show my crazy self up at another signing, and keep being me.
That’s the best thing about this job.
So if you are in the Philly area, come out and show your support, not just to me but to the other 64 authors that I will be seated next to. Hope to see you all very soon as I make my way around the states signing books after books.. Oh, that’s right I will be adding new places on my event tab once I return..
Until next week, keep reading, keep believing in love at first sight, and never lose your sparkle.
