Hearts, Flowers, and Zombies…. The Walking Dead…
Most might look at that heading and be like what in the world is she talking about… While some might see that and know exactly what I’m talking about. The return of the second half of season 6 for The Walking Dead came on last night, and I couldn’t have been more excited.
Let’s get a few things straight…
- I haven’t always been a fan of the series
- I don’t just watch any zombie movie
- Let’s go back haven’t always been a fan
- I love Daryl….
When the show first started, I wouldn’t watch it. I was grossed out as it usually caught me at a time where I had food in my mouth, or I was reading a lovely romantic scene in a book. It might have been around the second session when my son started to watch it with his grandfather. Yes, what are grandparents for? To teach a child how to survive a zombie attack. This is a great life lesson, as I probably wasn’t going to explain this until you were older. Let’s move forward a few more years. Now, we insert Mr. Willard…. He has become a dedicated fan and has watched all past episodes on Netflix. The bond between father and son, and an added depth of zombie killing makes for an unusual household. Yes, the conversations that I would hear fluttering down the hall toward me as I wrote a scene would cause me to get up and check to see if they were okay. I mean a few times I was worried that I might need to take care of them myself.
It wasn’t until season 5 that I would catch a few episodes, and little things would catch my attention. Now, I would never admit that I was falling for the cast, the plot, the zombies, the meaning, etc. Since I somewhat became a fan at that time, I started to catch up on marathons, Netflix, etc.
We fast forward to season 6!!!!!
See I wasn’t as attached to some of the cast as you guys were since I came in late. But it was still sad to see them go. I am however attached to our current cast as they are the main ones for me.
The start of the first half of season 6 had us all on the edge of our seats. Each week they built it up more and more and more. Put our hearts to the test… Our emotions ran rampant through the week as we waited to find the faith of Glynn. Was he dead? Was he alive? Where is Glynn?
YIPPIE!!! WE FOUND GLYNN
Real fans will understand that sentence…
Let’s not even get me started on how season 6A went off and decided to make us wait like FOREVER to come back on.
I have been counting down the days of its return as it was my birthday, or if I was going to win the lottery on February 14th. When in reality I was going to go through some major rollercoaster of emotions.
It’s Valentine’s Day… A day for lovers… A day of cupids, chocolates, flowers, and dinners to be enjoyed…
The Willard House converted the day into a marathon of zombie loving.
We watched the past as we prepared for the future. Eat early, and even made sure that the stockings were hung. “lol… I hope you understand the joy of the new season.”
******* SPOILER ALERT *********** DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED **********
If you don’t want a spoiler, do not continue…. I will not be held responsible for anything.
WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE! WHY DID YOU MAKE US GO THROUGH ALL OF THAT!
Okay, I got that out. Let me just say without giving anything away that had to be the BEST episode ever. I mean I cried… I laughed… I yelled… I had a heart attack… I had it all… I might have even stopped breathing once or twice…
I don’t even have words still today for what went down last night.
I can, however, say this. Thank you for allowing us to witness the finger twitch at the end, if we didn’t receive that I have the feeling, it would’ve been a very long week of worry. We had characters lose their lives last night, some joined forces, the Sheppard protected his flock, some even pulled their heads out and fought to protect.
Needless to say, I hand down loved the new start of the season. Until next week when I am sure I will be bitching about someone dying, being stupid, or who knows.
I can say best Valentine’s Day Ever!
Love A.M.
