What have I been reading? Oh this seems like a loaded question… Most of you already know that I used to read about five or more books in a week. Only for that to now turn into about one, or two a week if I’m lucky. When I sit down to write and focus on my newest manuscript, I hardly read. I’ve found it extremely difficult to let other characters in while I’m developing my own. Now, don’t get me wrong as I know plenty of authors that juggle this and do fine. But, for me I like to turn my mind off and back on to the world I am creating. Yes, sometimes that world becomes my reality as I feel most days I walk, talk, and think just like them. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Anyways… I wanted to share the last few books that I’ve read with you guys.
Spiked Lemonade by Shari J Ryan just earned five stars from me as I wrapped this one up over the weekend. Let me say she won my heart way back in the day, and I can’t pass up one of her books. She’s quickly becoming one of my- go- to authors for sure.
Synopsis:
I traded in my Navy uniform and short hair for tats and a scruffy beard to become a man on the run. Moving from town to town, taking comfort in hot cars and fast women was the only way I could outrun the nightmares.
Then I met her…
Looking like a Southern Belle in a small Texas town, all layered in pretty dresses and perfume, I call her beautiful.
She calls me a perv.
This beauty won’t admit I have something she wants (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), or that I’m the one she’s looking for, but I love that she has something I never knew I needed.
I may be labeled as a jerk, but she’s going to fall in love with me, and I’m going to make her cuss and drink whisky instead of lemonade. Why? Because sometimes beauty comes with a dirty mouth and sometimes your lemonade needs to be spiked.

***** FIVE Stars *****
This isn’t my first book that I’ve read from Shari J Ryan and it won’t be my last.
I loved how Jag was rough around the edges, dirty mouth, and Alpha. Well, that was until me met his southern bell Sasha.
This story takes you on an adventure of how your past can haunt you, but it also leads you to your future. One that causes you to change a little to be with the one your heart desires.
Five stars from me, and can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
If you want to check this title out, you can visit Amazon for the latest here. I’ve been reading Shari’s work now for almost a year and nothing surprises me with her work. I have to admit my FAV is A Heart of Time…..
Most of you know that I am a complete Colleen Hoover fan and will read ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING of hers… Like seriously I don’t even read the blurbs, teasers, or nothing. If her name is on that cover, I one click that thing and make it my b*tch. It Ends With Us came out right when I was wrapping up Sugary Sweets… Oh, the agony as I didn’t even click it until I could sit down and read it. People, just picture the struggle for me as I had to finish edits, and focus before I could read. I thought I was going to die, but I have rules and the reward was amazing in the end.
Synopsis:
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up – she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

***** FIVE Stars *****
I should take a few days before I write my review but I think if I did that it would still be raw. It’s been known that I will read whatever Colleen writes, and I’m usually the one counting down the days until her release. This time, I just wasn’t paying attention. I knew it was coming and I braced myself as I do with each book. No I didn’t read the whole blurb, spoilers, teasers – NOTHING! I went right in feet first and couldn’t stop. I cried, I couldn’t turn the page, I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t stop… The way Colleen tells this story is beautiful, it’s the naked truth of life. Shit happens, and you either pick yourself up and start a new trend or you let the bad define you. Lilly kicked life’s a$$ and I want to be her when I grow up. Thank you for giving us this story…
